An
in depth research about the ship is explored as thoroughly as
possible, i.e. where the ship was built, when and who by, any
particular interesting events that happened during the vessels
career.
This gives me a good insight into what I am painting and helps
enormously.
Then preliminary sketches are drawn and when these are corrected
a detailed drawing is done on the art paper. |
|
Then
in accordance with the type of sky, sea conditions and general
wishes of the customer the painting begins.
The sky is painted in first with a wash for the sea.
Then parts of the ship are painted and a gradual build up charts
the progress and after many hours the whole picture begins to
take on a new life.
Then working steadily and painstakingly the painting is signed
and finished before being photographed prior to being framed
or packed up ready for posting. |
