The Hull trawler KINGSTON SAPPHIRE was built as the CAMBRIDGESHIRE in 1935 in Middlesboro. In WW 11 she was requisitioned by the Admiralty and was involved in a major rescue when the LANCASTRIA was bombed in June 1940.

She successfully rescued 1009 troops off the stricken ship.
In 1947 she was sold to Hull and became the KINGSTON SAPPHIRE until 1954 when she went for scrap.
