The steam trawler GRIMSBY TOWN was built in1934 and named after Grimsby Town Football Club when they were promoted into the first division. This was after a promise by the chairman of Consolidated Fisheries that if the team should go up in the league he would name his next new trawler after them.

Soon after returning from Harry Tate’s Navy, she was lost at Iceland on April 23rd 1946 after stranding at Hjoerleifs Hofdi, with the loss of three crew members.
