The steam trawler
GRIMSBY TOWN was built in1934 and named after Grimsby Town Football Club
when they were promoted into the first division. This was after a promise
by the chairman of Consolidated Fisheries that if the team should go up
in the league he would name his next new trawler after them.
Soon after returning from Harry Tate’s Navy, she was lost at Iceland
on April 23rd 1946 after stranding at Hjoerleifs Hofdi, with the loss of
three crew members. |
